Joy
Joy finds her name,
hard to live up to.
Her face hurts
from smiling
too hard
too much
too often.
During a recent visit
to the state psychiatric ward
She made friends with a girl
named Faith.
Faith said, "God never gives us more
than what we can handle"
Joy noticed the bandages
wound around Faith's wrists
and though she was not sure
she imagined metalic seepage
that began at a soul level
and slowly bled through cliche.
Sometimes, It all seems
rather too much.

Reminds me of a girl I once knew named Hope. Hope was a mess.
I would revise this. I think it is way powerful. I think expanding the first stanza a bit more is all that this needs. Very powerful. This almost sounds like a joke, Joy and Faith meet in a mental hospital... but it isn't.
So much of life reads like a great joke ... its too bad it hurts so much.
